About Gideon
I am an empathic clinician with a strong commitment to empowering people to make meaningful changes in their lives. I aim to meet each person where they are and to offer what they need in that moment. At times, this involves collaborative problem‑solving or teaching new skills; at other times, it means creating space for deeper emotional experience or supporting clients to better recognise and understand their internal world.
I have experience working across the lifespan with a broad range of mental health and medical presentations, though my primary focus is with individuals aged 14 years and older. I value clear, direct communication about therapeutic expectations and strive to ensure my clients have a transparent understanding of what therapy with me involves.
My practice is grounded in cognitive–behavioural principles, complemented by interests in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and psychoanalytic approaches. I frequently support individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, trauma, psychosis, low self‑esteem, grief and loss, neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g. ADHD and Autism), acquired brain injuries, and various disabilities. When clinically appropriate, I enjoy integrating cognitive assessment to deepen formulation and guide treatment.
Alongside my role at ANIMA, I also work part‑time in an inpatient rehabilitation service supporting individuals with acquired brain injuries. I feel very comfortable working in contexts where a person’s cognitive strengths and vulnerabilities are central to their treatment plan, and I value close collaboration with medical and allied health teams when required.
Outside of work, I enjoy being surrounded by forests, rivers and coastline. I also enjoy taking photographs on my film cameras and then developing the film.
